It has all come down to this. The leaders and candidates of each party have given their arguments and reasoning on their policies. What a debate it has been, not to mention the chaos caused by the scepticism of the general crowd as well as the attacks from opposing parties.
The Australian Labour Party are all for ‘Asylum seekers deal with Malaysia’, ‘National Broadband Network’, ‘Lowering the Voting age’, ‘Carbon Tax’ as well as ‘Better Healthcare and Transport’.
The Liberal party happen to be against these policies, claiming the risk on the Australian economy.
The Greens’ have come up with polices along the same lines as Labour Party, stating ‘no jobs on a dead planet’, promoting ‘greener jobs’ equals ‘better economy.
On the other hand, they Rainbows have been innovative; putting tax on methane (which is 20% more harmful than carbon) instead of carbon, encouraging organ donations and same sex marriages.

Enthusiastic, dedicated, passionate and friendly. The Greens have definitely picked a fine leader. Her compassion towards the environmental issues that are rising in Australia is most admirable, this has certainly been shown in the policies that the Greens has planned for us to deal with climate change. Yet, can Australia rely only on their environmental plans and nothing else?
ALP-Labor: Shi Jing Wong
Her versatility and intellect puts her as a great contender for this election without any doubt. You can see she really cares about the people of Australia and we can find comfort in knowing her best interests rest with us. But can we really go through more taxes that Labour has planned for us?
Coalition- Liberal: Catherine Perry
Compassionate, loyal, clever and caring, Perry knows what the people want and has a promising future planned for Australia. We can definitely see the undying strength within her and her party, but can we trust this innocent face?
Rainbow: Maddy Marsland
This fiery and clever personality definitely has flair for her people and her party. We can feel the freedom, yet we can also feel the order and hard work coming from Marsland and her party, which can definitely been seen in the Rainbow party’s policies. Yet, can we really risk our country with Marsland and her team?

Policies and Preparations

At the beginning, Liberal refuse to comment, Catherine Perry the leader of the Liberal Party claims that by speaking to the media, it is incriminating to her party members. This kind of beginning implies quite clearly that the Liberal didn’t want to share their plan with the society or that they are unsure about their policies.
When asked about the other parties, they claimed that they are unsure about the Rainbows ideas and what their are plans for the future; obviously, the Liberals are not the ones to consult to talk about this.
Later on, as more preparations were underway, the Liberal party seemed more organised and welcoming.
Catherine Perry stated that “Our party are here to serve people; they represent equality, freedom and opportunity.” Catherine also believes that it will costs 43 billion to implement this national broadband network and she believes that it is, quote – “ absolutely ridiculous”. The Liberals are also against the carbon tax and claim that we should be planting more trees and not taxes.
They also want to create incentive for solar energy and other forms of renewable energy. The leader of Liberal Party plans to represent people effectively and doing what people think is best.
It is to be noted, the Liberals were the first party to organise promotional material, to begin their campaign and seemed the most united party. The slogan of their campaign is the cleverly alliterated “Perry for PM”.

“We just wanted to make sure our policies were all brushed up and perfect Before we gave them to you. We wanted to ensure you were getting accurate Information.”
“Rainbow Party really does have your best interests at heart.” – Erica Tan, Member of the Rainbow Party.
In fact, from discussion yesterday with the Party Leader, Middy Marshland and her Deputy, Elizabeth Ng, they had included Asylum Seekers and National Service in their new radical policy. For the time being, their full policy is yet to be discovered, as apposed to all the other parties who have already unraveled their policies and endgame for Australia. From the vibe that was given yesterday, the party looks disorganized and unprepared. Not to mention there was much tension in the room between the fellow members.
Overall, the Rainbow Party is a real contender for the election, but “aiming for perfect policies or society” just may not be the kind of policy Australia is looking for.

Day One: Wrap-Up

It has been such an exciting day. Each of the four parties have all been desperately campaigning for every last vote which could make a difference (for the better or worse) of Australia. Their campaigns have been mainly revolving around Carbon Tax, Asylum Seekers and National Broadband Network.
In reference to the many past reports, it seems that the parties are all thinking along the same lines in terms of imposing new policies, or keeping old ones. However, the Rainbow Coalition’s leader Madeline Marsland have been making outrageous comments about their radical policies in supporting same sex marriage, national service and
asylum seekers; claiming that they will have the power to give the asylum seekers and new life and brighter future. The Liberal party on the other hand have been making plans for better tertiary studies. All the while, the Labour Party have not put up anything convincing for their campaign.
What’s and election campaign without foul play? The Rainbows have been in deep distress upon finding their campaign posters in recycle bins; they suspect it was the doing of Greens’ party members….

What’s Behind the Greens?

The suspicious door slamming Greens are definitely hiding something behind those walls. With very little public appearance, the Greens have made a statement claiming that ‘The Grass is Greener on our side’. Furthermore, the Greens seem to now have a new approach than being environmentally friendly, instead they’re more into healthcare, family planning and using non-recycled paper for their campaign posters!
However, their new approach to this system is quite suspicious and secretive. Unlike other parties, the Greens are using quite a violent approach, slamming doors from people who would like to have a say or even getting information from other parties.
In a recent interview about the Greens, Governor General Richard Peterson criticised them, saying that ‘’They’re the most disorganised team I’ve consulted with… they should live in a tree house.’’
The Greens, who did not wish to be interviewed, stated that they have ‘no comment’ about the public opinion.
